Happy Camper Trailers
Hi all,
Just seeking some views/advice on the best type of under canvas lighting (non generator powered). Gas is not the best option under canvas particularly with kids. We have over the years used various types of lighting such as UFO lights etc but we are now looking at what others view as the most effective under a camper trailer awning and inside the tent area. We want to consolidate with one type of lighting and toss the myriad of lights we have collected over the years. Areas we are seeking advice on are brightness, ability to hold charge, charging requirements, brand types and cost. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Happy Camper Trailers

We use an 12 volt 11 watt twin tube fluoro lead lamp which plugs into the camper trailers battery.
Have tried LED's and battery powered fluros, but found the lead type lamps the best. Not cheep but the one we have now is 5 years old. Have one in the annex & one in the camper.

One is quite old and not sure of the brand. The one that gets the most use under the annex is an ARB. I think it was about $80.
If you have an Annoconda near you, they have one that "Looks" the same & they are having a 20% off sale tomorrow.
Hope this helps

I have a 12 volt 1 amp fluoro light which runs off the c/t battery. As this _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx such little power it is very efficient, i.e ioo amp battery should last close on 100 hours of use. Sold under various brands including Primas
Cheers Dave

LED would be good as they give off very little heat
Can be recharged and are sold in various forms at
camping shops
As you are probably aware they do not give off as much light as same power of other forms but are safe both as far as heat and burns are concerned.

imo you just cannot beat the Versa Light, Throw in a yellow insect filter from 4x4 equip and great lighting,no heat and very little current draw. There are various brands of these now, all good and easy to setup and use.

Ditto for the Versa-Lite. _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx about 1amp. Had
mine for 11 years and still as good as the day I bought it. Will be buying a second one soon. They still cost no more than what I paid all those years ago.
