well .. only the ones having their super money in shares or public funds. It's the same with everything .. rely on others you have to live with the consequences. You can have a self managed super fund and you are independent. Of course you need a certain amount in your super to make it worth while but you can. I don't understand all that whining and complaining. Don't spend that much, don't take that much credit, don't speculate on the loss of others and only spend what you have and you will be fine. It is very American and also Aussie to spend to the limit, buy everything you want "interest free" and not thinking about the consequences. Australia is more American than you all are happy to admit. The stock market is nothing creative .. it does not create general wealth, knowledge, or anything positive. It is just a means to redistribute money to the smart and/or lucky including all the insider crims who are not getting caught.
A very welcome wake up call indeed.. I hope some people learn from it.
Pay of your debt, live within your means and you will be laughing. I hope at least the farmers and growers will get out something positive out of the free fall of our $. Maybe it is cheaper now again to buy local instead of getting that Chinese crap.
have fun
