Hi all
Can any one tell me about their experience with the conversion kits for the full to part time conversions for the 80 series cruiser. We are travelling to the Kimberlieys in september and I am thinkink of fitting the conversion to my cruiser.

I had this done about 6 months ago and think it is
well worth it.
I don't know about beter fuel economy / more power ect but i did it just to remove the clunk noise when changing gears and also saves some wear in the front driveline, CV's ect.
Marks Adaptors sell the kits (free wheeling hubs and t/case cog) and are aprox $900 fitted.
In my opinion full time 4wd is nothing more than a sales gimmic.
Kev.

Hi
I have diced the full time for a std transfer/rear driveshaft fwh setup.
So far so good (the fulltime t/f had problems staying in low range)

G'day all
Just interested in knowing why the full time 4WD is not as good? What advantage do you get when gone over to part time. Cheers

With full time 4wd you are turning the t/case gears, front drive shaft, diff centre, axels and CV joints for no real reason on road.
Why not disengage all that and save the wear and tear, for one your CV joints would last a lot longer.

You save on wear and tear on all your front end drive components and with any luck you may also save on fuel costs.
Well thats my plan and I'm making the investement next week, with monaro off road in
canberra.
cheers
