G'day Rod,

Not trying to be smart, but could you get someone to give you a lift down the road to the Top Tourist Pk and just have a look? Bad reports always get more currency than good reports.

Good luck
John

Hi Rod - Not been to any of them, but you can always check out what others say on Badgers

http://home.vicnet.net.au/~badger04/

I think it is Opal Inn? Look at all for Coober Pedy as there a several. If it is more convenient and cheaper for you, it is probably worth putting up with sub standard amenities - after a few days you probably won't even notice.

We stayed in a CP just out of Alice Springs and i nearly walked out on the first day after i saw the old amenities block. We grew to love the place and came back to it again after touring around.

Hi Rod,

We stayed there a couple of years ago and could not fault it.

It is small with very good facilities and walking distance to everything.

Regards,

Matt

I stayed in the Big 4 one down the bottom end of town...it wasn't bad...and good people run it as well.

20c for a 2 minute shower due to water restriction out there.

is that the one with the swimming pool inside the water tank? If so, we stayed there years ago. It was as good as any other park we stayed at.

The pool was like ice water and it was over 40C that day.

Louie.

just as a point of interrest to those planning to stay in coober pedy. NONE of the van parks offer water taps on their sites [powerred or not] you must bring your water tanks full then buy their water direct from the van parks... our van was brought in by a RAA truck as our car broke down on the highway,so we had to buy water and carry it bucket by bucket from the office ,180 liters worth,20 trips by bucket..

so beware and fill your tanks before you hit town.. cheers.. rod

Almost across the road from the Big 4 is a coin fed water dispenser in front of the town water works. You get about 40 It for 20 cents. It is timer controlled and looks like a petrol pump hose - be ready with tour tank or containers because it comes out real fast !

Hi Rod,
Can't comment on the "Top Tourist Park" as we stayed in the Big 4 towards the end of town, when we were there two weeks ago. Good facilities, though the showers were short for your 20 cents and as indicated no taps on camping sites. For a small fee, 20 cents for 30 litres, there is a council provided water fill point in the main street.
Cheers,
Wayne.

PS Your call on the dollars you may save.
W.
