Hi,

I currently have a Pathfinder which if driven well, I get about 10.76 l/km (made up of 70% Freeway 30% City). As I drive a lot on the freeway, I am looking at finding something that would help me increase my economy even more. I have purchased chips for the car, to increase power and economy – and they don’t increase or do anything. I have a change tyre pressure that has helped a little. But what I am looking for is when I get into fifth gear that I can reduce my revs to about 1500 instead of just over 2000 – this would increase my fuel consumption by 10-15% I figure.

Hope someone can help...

Dominic.
A big ask, where do you get the 15% saving from? not just revs. Try something to find out, don't use 5th just stay in 4th and cruise at the same speed if you use 15% more then you could be right. Don't fall for the bigger wheels theory because you lose out on rolling resistance. Eric.

Hi Eric,

15% was a rough number, but i will try on my next fuel run.

If you up your gearing you will be doing less revs but most likely have to use more accerator to compensate , so will not gain much. Also you may be off your torque curve.
