Hi I building a drifter syle kitchen (like this one http://www.drifta.com.au/setDSO.htm ) for my CT and was wondering if anyone here had a drifter or had made a drifter style kitchen that could take some photos of how the front panel (the bit that becomes the extened bench area) stays in place when packed up.

thanks
Jason

Notthe answer your looking for probably, but a suggestion / tip maybe?

Weight is the enemy of camper trailers - everything you add burns extra fuel to cart it - and over the life of a camper trailer that can add up to a lot of $ so think carefully about the material you make the kitchen from.

The same rule applies to boats with displacement.

A lot of kitchen s panels in boats thse days is being made from a very lightweight but strong aluminium honelycomb core panel, often with thin decorative timber veneers..

Maybe you could make the same kitchen but heaps lighter from such panel material?

Also - as far as catches etc go - the haefele catalogue usually has more widgets for cabinets than you've had hot dinners - if you can't find a suitable hinge or runner or catch in there - then it isn't made.

Cheers

Yeah I built one and I had the same dramas. My old man has one of those triton work benches and worked it out for me. I have changed it a bit. I have to work night shift tonight so I will try to go through my photos to see if I have any and if not I will take some tomorrow.

Made one. The top has a hinge at one edge and flips over so the hinge supports at one edge when extended. One of the front panels becomes the leg for the free standing end.
