Have to drop down to Maclean during this coming week and we thought, why not take the van and spend a couple of days.
A web search has come up with
Red Cliff and Lake Arragan
camp areas in the Yaraygir NP, but not much detail.
Anyone familiar with these spots, or others in the area which are pleasant for
camping - perhaps a walk and possibly a bit of beach fishing?
Also, I could not find directions on how to get to either of the ones I have mentioned.

Norm,
I just spent 2 days at
Brooms Head and while there I checked out both Lake Arragan &
Redcliffe.
My personal preference is Lake Arragan, but
Redcliffe was not bad either.
The turn off to both these spots ison the left side of the road about 4k before the village of
Brooms Head.
When you turn in off the
Brooms Head Rd, you go either straight ahead to Lake Arragan or right to
Redcliffe. If you miss the turn off to
Redcliffe and end up at Lake Arragan there is a road that takes you to
Redcliffe anyway.
For more info, contact Mark G who lives nearby and I am sure will be happy to assist.
Cheers,
Cruiser

river camp site is 10 mins from Broomes might also suit your needs.
Cheers

Hi Norm,
As both Cruiser & Barbara have mention these are great spots.
I haven't camped at either spot, but they are very popular.
Mark G and his family have just spent the long weekend there and would be able to tell you what to expect at Red Cliff/Lake Arragan
Another beautiful spot would be Woody Heady, on the Iluka Rd just north of Maclean.
We spend a week there at the start of December each year out of school holidays and it's paradise. Coin operated hot showers and a very clean
park.
By the way Barbara, Mark is trying to organize a EO north coast/SE Queenland members get together. He has listed under NSW - Northern NSW / S.E QLD get together- family day out
Just thought I'd mention it.
Norm, where ever you choose, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Hi Norm,
We
camp at
Brooms Head caravan
park on the un powered sites
which are right on
the beach front and they now provide
bins to have a
camp fire except on school holidays, if you see a spare one, grab it and put it on your site. I think you will find it is now a bit cheaper to stay in the
park than at
Red Cliff and Lake Arragan.
Great spot and if you have a tinny the fishing is good at Sandown.
