BABY GRAND
Hi all.
I just have bought a 2000 model suzuki grand vitara and was told by certain people that i should install a metal sump guard. The sump guard is supposed to give protection to the gear box when driving on
the beach, as apparently if you dont have one when you drive on
the beach and hit soft sand it can penetrate the gear box and then cause you major problems. As anyone heard of this. Can someone please shine some light on this subject , and tell me if there is any truth behind this matter or is it just a load of rubbish.
cheers lance.

Depends were you wnat to take the car. Sand penetrating the gear box sounds a bit of a furfy but get under the car and have a look at the vunerable low points. sump guard more to protect from rocks cracking the sump.
The suzi's have lower clearance (but they do float on sand) compared to the bigger 4wds. Quite often there are rocks (
limestone etc) on sandy tracks that could crack your sump. Then $300 is cheap insurance. As Discussed before some new 4wd's have crap sump guards (ie navara) that really need the upgrade
