Due to the recent bushfire in the Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area, the Western Explorer Road is closed.

Yeh, a pity....we were down Tassie a couple of weeks ago and this road was gonna be on the agenda..
The fire was back in March, and apparently they have cleared the 1000 "unsafe" trees affected by the fire, but one report from a National Parks bloke was that some of the road is smoldering " from beneath" and they didn't know when it would be safe to drive over it ??
Plus the greenies don't want it reopened..
