I'm sure some one can offer a rational explanation for the dummies like myself but I was pretty sure when I changed job locations in 2005 that figures were similar to now so I did some research and found this.
In 2005 right through the year the Aussie dollar was worth around the same as now against the greenback (www.x-rates.com)
The oil price per barrel was also around the same as it is now.
(www.
caltex.com.au)
so the dollar was the same and oil was the same so where were petrol prices? They Started the year around 0.95/L ranging to
1.25/L after hurricane Katrina and settling at years end Finishing 2005 at just over 1.10 per litre (www.
caltex.com.au)
Which coincidently is what someone from the NRMA said we should be paying right now but his colleagues disagreed and said around $1.20 was more realistic.
Both these figures are a far cry from $1.40 to $1.50 we pay now please someone explin it to me again just how we are not getting played. But we have no choice.
Sorry Just releasing some frustration after filling up both tanks cost me over $300. No its not a truck its a twin
tank cruiser

And Rudds Feul Commissioner jumps ship months ago.
Why hasn't he been replaced?
I know!!, because it was a sham to start with.
I bet
Caltex is making more than 1.5 cents a litre now.

Hi Howesy,
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not sticking up for the oil companies or anything, but I reckon overheads such as wages would certainly have risen some since 2005. There may have been other overhead increases as
well, all of which needs to be covered in the final retail price.
Having said that, I agree that it's still too high - especially diesel!
Cheers
Gerry

If their empty i fill em, I usually alternate between tanks and fill one just as the other empties so I only do one at a time but i got slack this time and thought stuff it. Think I'll go back to filling as empty.
