Unfortunately I did a deal with my wife, one year we holiday in the outback, next year overseas. Well, we just did the bush 2 years in a row. So sadly, I reckon it might be a couple of years before I need the satphone again. I'll sit on the shelf in my study and cost me nothing to keep. No need to sign up for a plan, just use your regular Telstra NextG SIM card, with international roam enabled. We used it in the middle of the Simpson Desert 4 weeks ago. Full setup, spare battery, batteries are good. Recharger, External aerial. Someone said you can recieve SMS's on it, we've never bothered.

I'm trying to figure if it's worth hanging on to. How much are they selling for?

There's been a couple of 9505a's sell on Ebay in the last couple of weeks. They went for around $1000.

The only functional difference between a 9500 (1st generation) and a 9505 (second generation) is that a 9500 can only receive SMS where a 9505 can send and receive SMS.
The 9505 is smaller, has a more modern menu system (like current mobile phone) and is probably easier to use.
I bought our 9500 with the same accessories as yours for $450 a few years ago and it was connected with its own number.
You would probably still get around $450 if it is in good nick and the batteries are ok.

The 9500 is a brick compared with the later 9505A. Accessories are difficult and expensive to replace.

But they do seem more robust than the later aerials and sim card covers on the 9505A's.
Going price depends on what's included , and if the battery holds a charge.
$450=$600 recently on Ebay.
