Hi all,

I was thinking of visiting a bit of the Vic High Country next month and I am after a bit of info.
I am thinking of setting up my caravan in Mansfield and do day trips out from there.

My questions are:

Is the road in from Benalla suitable for a 22 footer van.

What is the weather like early to mid November.

I look forward to your replies.

Regards

Matt

you could probably get a 22foot van into Pineapple flat and set yourself up there. Thats a little further into the High Country from Mansfield and a lot busher. But no electricalicity

I think "lass plainsy" would be a homely looking girl, but of course I can't say with any degree of certainty.

Matt the Mansfield Rd from Benalla is suitable for B Double semi trailers so the van will be fine. (Often difficult to tell on a map in an area one hasn't travelled) Mansfield Caravan park would make an excellent base to trip into the High Country being less than 30 minutes away & has all the usual facilities of a large tourist town.
Weather is perfect at that time of year being around the mid to high 20's during the day. It can get wet though with the occational storm rolling through but as with most places around Oz the draught means it will probably be dryer than normal. Most seasonal track closures will be open by then too.
Enjoy your stay.
Cheers Craig..........

I based myself in Mansfield in April this year and had a blast. Beautiful town and one of the best pizza's I've had was from there.
Traversed trails the back way into Craig's hut (Buttercup, Number 3 Tk).
Also a short distance is the Howqua Hills area, climbed up to the Slate Mine via symes track (brilliant ridge top trek) then down to beautiful Wren's Flat.
Went down to Jamieson and had a dip in the Golburn and treked sappers track.
Highly recommended spot.
