Hi all
have a 2002, 3l. turbo Rodeo that is losing power and blowing a lot of smoke, can only get about 3000 rpm out of it. Cleaned the seperator and replaced the fuel filter was fairly dirty!! heap of gunk in it, what do you think I should look for next as nothing has altered?.
Cheers Claudie

I'd run some fuel addative that cleans the fuel system out.

Check the banjo bolt where the fuel line goes into the fuel pump.Alot of diesels have a very fine strainer/filter here that blocks up.

I saw a jack a few years ago that had the same symptoms. It turned out to be the bolt on the wastegate came loose and was dumping all the boost into the exhaust all of the time. Hence no power and loads of smoke. Bolt replaced good as new.
I don't know if they are still similar to the previous model but worth a look.
Cheers

Claudie,
The symptoms you describe are those of a dirty air filter, or blocked intake system. If the fuel filter was that dirty, you want to hope that the fuel pump isn't rooted. Maybe the fuel filter was just doing its job.
Hooroo,
Bob.
