I am thinking of putting a story to one of the a current affair program re ; ZD30 engines and the trouble with holes in pistons and am looking for names and contacts as
well as history to give the station, if anyone is interested they can contact me by email on carlnlinda@bigpond.com I believe I will need at least 10 contacts to get the station interested. Please no (somebody told me)stories I need facts.
I have decided to put a gen 3 to replace my deceased ZD30.

Nice choice of motor, to put in :)
In regards to what you want to do, there was someone on here before trying to compile a list to do what you want to do. Maybe a serach of the archives might help find that person. Either way good luck with what you end up doing. While I was not a victim of the ZD30, my parents were.
Cheers Stefan

hahahahaha......that's what I thought too......nice choice of motor (ie: Gen 3). However, it turns out he meant a Series 3 (ie: Nissan 3 litre diesel....effectively the same time bomb he is replacing).
Why would you do that?????

Gday,
From the storries Ive read on here in relation to some Nissan engines, I reckon you'll have trouble getting it down to 10 rather than trouble finding them.
LOL
Cheers

Why don't you keep it all in one thread, it makes it very hard to follow by keep starting new ones.

Hi there Captain Chaos, when you say gen 3 I presume you are referring to the Holden V8 motor ?? or do you mean series 3 motor from the patrol ?? If referring to the gen 3 from a Holden then make sure it is the gen 3 from a VY or VZ not from a VT or VX. VT/VX had serious issues with piston slap and using as much oil as fuel. VY/VZ rectified this problem in regards to oil usage, no further issues. Still get a bit of piston slap but no where near the VT/VX issues and I haven't heard of the gen 3's form the VY/VZ's having any issues with oil usage. This is coming from some body who has worked for Holden for the last 16 years as a mechanic. Good luck with it all and hope you solve any issues with Nissan.

Tried the same with the current affair shows when they request a story from the public. Did not even get a reply! These media driven shows do not have the balls to take on a big gun. It would mean a loss of income for their employer so they'll just keep kicking the small business owner and the other soft targets and then sensationalise the minor incident. Good luck any way and hope you succeed and count me in.

x2 The best they can do is chase roof repair crooks over back fences in a half hearted manner.
Messing with Nissan will make a big hole in their advertising revenue

Captain Chaos
You got me if you need me.
As for the replacement motor, the new common rail would be the only one I would even begin to contemplate, the earlier engines be they Sr I II III IV are just the same system as yours and you will be buying another ticket in the same lottery.
Cheers Colin.
