Gurus please help.

I've got an HP fliptop that I had repaired under warranty. Since it came back the battery won't charge. The battery didn't go with it for repair, that stayed with me and when I pout it back in it had 98% charge.

Since using it, it dropped to 25% and won't come up.

Before I spend time on the phone to HP tomorrow, does anyone know of a setting, or something, that may have been changed to switch off the battery charging programme?

Any and all advice will be happily received.

Jim.

Morning Jim

Simple tests first

A. Have you tested both AC and DC charging?
B. Are both the chargers working? Test them.
C. Have you switched the wall plug on?..lol

Cheers

They all seem to be working as the flippie runs when plugged in and the little icon down the bottom says it is charging.

As for C, that's not as funny as it sounds, but I'll not go into that for fear of making a complete goose of myself.

If you take out the battery does the laptop run off the charger?

Try that, if it doesn't then the charger isn't working.

Hi Jim, My laptop did the same once. Turned out to be the battery not being 'clipped' into the laptop properly. Mine had two different buttons/clips that formed the mechanism to hold the battery in place. One of them wasn't fully in position and as soon as it was adjusted the battery would charge again. Worth a try I suppos. Doc.

The battery on this laptop plays up at times and it is mainly due to leaving it hooked up to 240 for too long. Then it drops very low and does not charge. What I do is take the battery out of the laptop and sit it aside for half an hour or so. Then I shut down the laptop and re-insert the battery and it then charges up to the max again.

Run on battery until almost completely flat. Then charge it fully.

Do this a couple of times to see if it works. If not, get somebody like BatteryWorld to test the battery.
