Is 5mm wire adequate to run a 40 ltr Waeco from the battery ( through a circuit breaker) to a plug in the rear of a 200 Series Cruiser. Thank's for answers in advance.

Yep,,should be OK. 5mm will carry around 15 Amps much more than your fridge will need...Nav.

5mm is a bit thin for a fridge, especially if you are referring to 5mm automotive wire and not 5mm2 copper thickness. While it is capable of carrying the current, there will be a voltage loss and your Waeco will cut out earlier, even though the battery would otherwise still be able to run it.
I have used 20mm2 (yep, 20mm2 - about the thickness of your middle finger) in my 200 series as I run my fridge, aircompressor,
water pump and power up the camper trailer battery as
well.
Point is, if you are going to the trouble of running a wire, then you might as
well pay the extra few $$ and do it properly. 20mm2 is overkill for just a fridge, but why not put in something of a decent diameter like 9mm2 while you are at it?
Cheers

if the run is less than 7 metres 5mm will be fine 5mm wire is rated at 25amps
