I've had a few people ask me how the prototype rear wheel storage bags went on the last big trip. Finally got off my clack and went over to Infront to give Klaus and Lynne the feedback today. These were made with a view to carrying a fair bit of weight yet surviving the dust and tribulations of remote outback travel.
Klaus put an extra strap going around the bag horizontally approximately one third down from the top of the bag. This goes round the tyre above the centre point and stops it slipping down with the extra weight. Also put a big section of strap in the middle of the bag to also add verticle support of contents. He put in Extra heavy duty zips and a dust flap over the top of them as
well.
I subjected the bags to 9,700km of absolute crap. They held up to 3 weeks worth of bottles and cans (Remember Gaby the crazed Canadian took a dozen bottles of Bailey's in her stash...hick!), the 5 litre garden sprayers, jaffle irons, billies, buckets etc. Performed exceptionally
well. I'd imagine the revised model (reccomended some internal reinforcing patches) will be hitting his website soon.
Here's one of them on my vehicle in the Simpson.....The angle -don't ask! It was blowing a gale and I fell off the track!)

Disclaimer: No afilliation with Infront. Just appreciate some people who'll go to the trouble of making something to your specifications.
Cheers. Mick

I have a $15 duffle-bag which I hang over the rear tyre. Has been used for years carrying some weight of discarded items and hasn't failed despite the clips being made of plastic. It is held on by a bungy strap.
Some years ago I gave a manufacturer of these accessories on this site the idea of the rear rubbish bag and was promised one when it was made but it never eventuated. Those names mentioned almost sound familiar...lol

Thanks Mick ,
I can probably use a couple of these . I destroyed two
Southern Cross ones , so I bought two Michelle Sacs ones - those kept slipping off the Cruiser spare as they have been designed for a smaller tyre .
I have bought a few things from Infront and will watch their website for the release .
Willie .

Ta Willie,
I think you'll be pleased. I've been thru a few myself which is why I'm particularly happy with this one. K & L have taken the time to listen to O/B travellers and develop something. Member 'Jack' on this site put me on to them a couple of years ago as he had one of their early model bags, which I believe is still working after quite a few years of sheer abuse. This model should be bulletproof (and a damn site cheaper than the
Southern Cross bagsor Michellesacs bags!).

Have a Black Widow one on the back of the 'Cruiser at times. You don't have to have one with big letterting on the outside that can cause your tyres to puncture. LOL

God'll get you for that! lol ;-)
Disappointed I'll be missing
the Pyrenees weekend. I reckon gout will be a major issue on Sunday morning (Laugh even Louder!).

Brother,
It is getting it's first test this Thursday, when I am off to Victoria for two weeks detecting. I see it as more of a gear bag, than a rubbish bag though.
I don't think it is quite what I want, but I will be happy if I'm wrong, as they were a nice couple. I like the sound of the one Mick was testing - built like a brick magazine reading room.

Infront are an excellent company to deal with. I've had one of their bags for 12mths now and it is fantastic. Price is a fraction of other proprietory brands.
If you go to their website there is a Christmas special on at the moment that includes the 2 bag designs.
