I am looking at putting roller draws in my ute (styleside tray). I already have a factory hard plastic ute liner in it. Do most people remove the liner or leave it in when fitting a draw system?

Depends on two things.

1. If the liner is there to seal the body leave it in.
2. If it isn't, get rid of it, that way your drawers can be made longer and wider.

Jim,

Yeah the liner doesn't seal the body so i guess I can get rid of it, also how do ute owners seal the tail gate when doing river crossings so ute contents don't get wet? Are there after market liners that allow tail gate to open some how as well as seal when need be?

When we fit our drawers we don't worry about it. Generally the only opening is at the back tailgate and the movement of the car stops any significant ingress of water. We manufacture our drawers on 17mm support rails so that they are raised off the floor to allow "breathing" between the drawers and the floor.

If you get stuck in the river, well the tub will let water in no matter what you do, as will the cabin.

Cheers,

Jim.

I made a drawer system for the Navara and left the tub liner in. I sealed the tailgate by using 25mm x 7mm neoprene tape from Clarke rubber that was sticky on the one side. I ran it round the edge of the tub and pushed the tailgate up hard against it when closing. More for dust than water but it did the job.
