Scoof
Just returned from a trip and want to be reminded of the great time we had.
We have seen digital photo frames and would like to get one.
Is there any pit falls or things that we should or shouldn't look for when buying a digital photo frame.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Scoof . :-)

I have seen them in the smaller size (I think they are pretty much a 6x4 size) and the photos look really good, but I think with the larger ones if the photo hasn't been taken at a high resolution can turn out a little blurry like on a computer screen.
they are a great idea, but Im not sure how long the batteries would last in them...inless a power point can be used.....

No worries, I have seen one somewhere with the battery thingy but for the life of me cannt remember where I saw it!
They can be pretty expensive so
shop around too. The normal-ish size ones in harvey norman I think were about $80 or so.....

As you may know there is some people on this site that have every gadget made and know how to use it.
I'm gadget alliterate and not that good with all the tecno stuff.LOL

You need to make sure what input the frame requires for the photos - I was given one of these frames, but its internal memory was negligible, and the only way to put photos on it was via another cable, which I didn't have. It wouldn't use a normal USB or anything. It all got just too hard. There's also a difference in how
well you can see the photos ie from an angle or straight on - I think the cheaper ones can really only be seen when you are directly in front of the frame, which isn't good when you have it in a room.
Cheers

Another thing to consider is that some of your photos may be in portrait profile (vertical) which looks small and less than ideal on most of these devices that prefer landscape mode photos.
We received a supposedly good one for christmas and wanted to place some family shots of our kids on it, only to find the look is ruined by them being portraits.
More over, just something to be aware of after purchasing...there "may" be ones out there that handle zooming/rotating etc better...i'm not sure.

Andrew you are spot on some of our photo's are verticle and other's landscape.
I didn't even give that a thought. Might have to buy 2 now one verticle and 1 horizontal. LOL

We have a "Digiframe 8" Optima"
It takes 4 memory cards (SD,XD,MS,MMS)
And has a USB socket & CF Card Socket.
The XD card will only read up to 1GB & has 128mb internally, I have never filled it up yet.
It can play music & videos as
well & a clock/calendar.
You can get a Power Cable to use in a vechicle.
They are great value.Happy shopping & hopefully you find a good salesperson, that will be your biggest challenge.

Hi Scoof
I wouldn't bother with a little digital display device. I just put the photos i want to display into a folder on my computer and select it as the screen saver. That way we can re-live the holiday or whatever on a big screen as it flicks through the photos at random. Nice and distracting when i am meant to be working on the computer too!

Just plug your usb dongle with the pics on it into your 50" widescreen telly.
Fantastic slide show!!
Bit hotter on power than your little 8" screen tho...
