what are your experiences with say a 90 - 92 barina with 120,000 - 150,000km on them????

or those mazda 323 astina's???early 90's model, 160,000km....new batt, new raditator, clutch replaced at 130,000km...its one of the ones with pop up lights....

Hey Laura,
Son has an early 90s Laser (same) with 474,000 km. Put a second hand exchange motor (of unknown mileage) in at around 200,000. Doesn't use oil or blow smoke. Great car!!

Actually the son's is a late 80s model, but I think the quality was consistently good.

I think those early Barinas were re-badged Suzuki Swifts, not Lasers.

I've got a Corolla like the one in your link for the daily commute....great little runaround, reliable, and runs on the smell of an oily rag.

Cheers

I know early Barinas were rebadged Suzukis, but then later in the 90's I heard some Barinas were Spanish-made and had head problems. But I may be wrong, never owned one.
Go for an old Corolla or Mazda.
Avoid anything European of that age.

Axle,
I've had 4 of the early subarus over the years. Great design and very reliable for the first 10 years. After that its all downhill - I seem to spend a heap to keep them on the road. Everything from head gasket leaks/ CV joints, wheel bearings, clutches, timing belts breaks, power steering leaks, oil leaks etc etc

Have to say I wouldn't buy an old one again.

i thought we can do better than that, plus they wanted $1500 and it only had 2 months rego on it...

Laura,
I had a '94 Barina for a few years, great little car, very reliable cheap to insure, cheap to service. Only a two door, of the little cars I've owned the Barina is one I would buy again. My experience with the one I had was only good.

Hey Laura
Lyn wanted to sell her Astra for $25k,,, ( hehehehehe) not really
Just Kidding !

Best run around vehicles at the moment would have to be a VS Commodore, or the Falcon's just before the the AU..

Owners are virtually giving them away, and you can get them with low K's, as well

Have a think about it

Cheers Mate
