I'm going to open a can of worms here and ask for advice re which battery i should buy to power the 12 volt side of our caravan. Its really only to power the tv and a few lights ect so i"m looking at 100ah AGM Sealed battery that is mounted inside the van. I have a 15amp 3stage charger and 500w inverter.Anyone have any thoughts on the fullriver batteries or should i be looking at something else.Any comments appreciated.
Tony

I am in same situation as you, Im about to purchase an AGM battery and considering a 105ah. I already have a similiar AGM battery in the van that was installed by manufacturer--Supreme. Have been looking at prices for Fullriver, Remco and also Lifeline. The latter battery is on the expensive side but I always reckon you only get what you pay for and the Lifeline does seem to be a quality product. However I am yet to make a decision.
I am also looking at the battery boxes currently on special with
BCF----$54for
BCF club members and they do seem to be good value.
Hope you find what your looking for.

There was a thread on AGM's the other day, more about buying them in
Melbourne but it gives you an idea as to the vaiety of current prices. I don't know what state you're in Bones but try Supercharge Batteries. They're in eMelb, Syd,
Newcastle,
Adelaide, Bris & Perff. I got two 90 AH AGM's for 360 (inc GST) for use in a similar set-up to you. Running a 300W inverter tho.
Here's the
LINK to the thread from a few days back.

Thanks for link the info was very helpfull.I've had discussions with the local supplier and has his own brand tha the supplies to the local caravan manufacturer at a reasonalbe price and was pretty helpfull. He did say that an alternative is to go with a gell battery that is about $100 dearer but is supposedly good for twice as many cycles. Any thoughts.

There is no way for the ordinary person to easily determine what is a quality battery and what isn't.
If you read about 2 people saying they bought brand X and it's rubbish - ignore them. If you read about 20 people saying the same it's probably true.
I suggest buying one from a supplier who you feel cares about what he sells and has a good attitude towards his customers and then, unless you have a very good reason. buy the cheapest battery in your size he stocks.
In use; don't overcharge it, don't discharge it too deeply (70% is enough) and don't leave it at less than full charge for more than a day or so.

Did you mean discharge 70% - i.e. down to 30% of its capacity or down to 70% of its capacity? I thought AGM’s could go down to about 50% without limiting its life greatly?
Be good to have a graph of ‘number of discharge cycles’ vs ‘depth of discharge’. Wondering also if you might know of that??
Cheers

Regularly discharging an AGM (indeed all lead acid batteries) to less than about 70% of their capacity will have a significant effect on their life. ie. a 100Ah battery should not be discharged by more than 30Ahs.
All manufacturers produce curves of the battery life against depth of discharge if you search the relevant data sheets you may find them otherwise e-mail their technical support people. NB I refer to _manufacturers_ NOT distributors who often don't know their a*** from their elbow.

We have Fullriver AGM house batteries (5 @ 120A/hr) and a Plasmatronics 3 stage solar contoller.
Thave been in constant use for 5 years now and so far, so good.
I uggest that the controller is just as important as the choice of battry (probably more so).
I do understand that AGM batteries do not like to get hot and therefore should not be installed under the bonnet.
