Is there any way of telling what power source they are on???

Yes they do switch over automatically....should be explained in your manual.
I think the only way to tell which power source it's using is to pull the other power cord out.

I have a battery monitor this way I can tell exactly whats going on is my electrical system. There is another way and that is turn off every thing except the fridge and as you plug in the AC power in you should see a spark at the plug, but the best way is obviously via a battery monitor.

This unit should have a 12/24/240 Volt Adaptor which you wire into your car for 12v. When you want to run it on 240 you just plug it in and it auto switches. Have you got one of these? Cheers Tony

I've got one of these in my truck. It runs separate plugs for 240v and 12/24v. They don't interchange.
In the case of having 240v and 12v plugged in at the same time I have a switch on my 12v outlet so know when it is powered.

You should hear it click, as others have mentioned, when it swaps from 12 to 240. BTW - recommend that you don't push and pull power leads willy nilly - can confuse the Waeco and send it into error - fridge should be set to off for any supply changes. Pulling the 12V supply can confirm the 240 run (but agreed the rear switch in the 12v line, mentioned above, is a good idea if you are concerned).

Ok so you suggest manually switching power sources not just plugging the 240v in and let it do it itself.

The reason i ask is i normally just switch the genny off at night and let it go onto battery and in the morning or whenever plug the genny back in and asssume its on 240v or it may be on 12v.

As while the genny is running the battery charger is charging the battery and doesn't seem logical to be on 12v when it is trying to charge.

MAtt. "just plugging the 240v in and let it do it itself". Thats all I have ever done, but you brought a battery charger into the equasion.
"The reason i ask is i normally just switch the genny off at night and let it go onto battery and in the morning or whenever plug the genny back in and asssume its on 240v" That is what happens so all is ok!
"As while the genny is running the battery charger is charging the battery and doesn't seem logical to be on 12v when it is trying to charge".
This is where I differ. I run the genni to the charger which is connected to the battery bank. When charging the batteries and I have the geni on, I also plug the fridge into the 240 volts. So I have the charger and the fridge both running on the geni. The fridge is more efficent running on 240 so I see no reason to run it off the batteries while the geni is running. Cheers Tony

Tony

Ok same thing as what i do i guess.

All i do is turn the genny off at night and the fridges go onto battery pack, in the morning i start genny and do nothing, does this mean the fridge will default back to 240v hence freeing up the battery pack to be charged.

Matt. Yes if you have both the charger and power pack to the fridge plugged into the geni. That is what will happen. Best of Luck. Cheers Tony

Tony

I think your missing the point im getting at(no offence of course)

But if the 12v and the 240v plugs( seperate plugs) are both plugged in at the same time like i have it will it default to 240v.

Cheers
