Hi All,

Recently i have been looking around at dash pods for the cruiser as i have run out of room for gauges. dash pods for what they are, way too dear.i decided to make my own first to see how it comes out and sofar i am very happy. only cost to date is $32 for a contour gauge, material was already on hand and a bit of labour. i have some pics of it at this stage. will post some more when completed and installed. cheers PaulImage Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be Found

Looks good so far Paul, but the interesting part comes feeding all the wiring up through the dash somehow.

Well done Paul. Looks good so far.
I'm a bit of a 'do it yourselfer' as well.
Amoung other things, I made my own roller drawer unit and roof console for my Hilux (recently sold).

Now have a new 70 Series LC. They have no real console. I also had nowhere to mount radio, brake controller, battery monitor and switch, push button to parrallel starter with aux batteries, etc. So I made my own console. Haven't taken any pics yet. Guess I should do so.

Also made a draw unit for back of current vehicle:

Although DIY saves you money and gets you stuff that is not otherwise available, one of my motivations is the enjoyment I get from identifyiing a problem, designing a solution, then buiilding the solution myself. I suspect you might be the same.

Lots of people do it. Some better than me. Doesn't take away my joy or pride one bit.

Good on you. Hope you get as much joy from your projects as I do from mine.

Norm, quick question, what the hell are the red and black things on the visors? Thanks in advance, John

Yeh Norm i do. i also made my own _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx and other things on the cruiser. i also like to identify problems and redesign/modify them too, or to simplify them. i just wish i had more time to do more of these type of things as i am trying to finish home renovations so we can sell up. this consumes most of my time lately.

Come on John, isn't it obvious!
By wife is a Ladybug nut. She has ladybugs embroidered on all her clothes for example.

They are glasses clips, but in the shape of ladybugs. Good handy place to keep the sunnies or reading glasses (we both use both types these days).

Sounds like we are following a similar track Paul.

I spent close to two years extending and renovating our place as an owner builder. Rather than sell, we are about to rent it out so we can 'hit the road' full time for a few years.

Yes it sounds that way but i am not " hitting the road" unfortunately, i have a few snapshots of my _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx that i made, they have access on the sides also as most dont and it is wasted space.Image Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be Found

Hi Paul,
All that looks good but am a bit worried about what those guages may do to your legs if you have a frontender of any size. May be relocate them to somewhere safer??

Maybe he doesn't need his patella or patella tendon...

Yeah. I'd be moving those. I've seen enough legs/knees broken just from hitting the dash in that particular area.

Trailer brake units are a bad one for occupying that spot too but there's not a lot of other places to put them.

Yeh Ian, they are being moved hence the dash pod. i cant see them properly either so the ones in the console will go up and the in cab adjuster will go into the console. then i will also relocate the brake controller.
