This is my third week at home after getting out of hospital, I am not
allowed to do a lot, I cant go to far, as we have to change the Skin
Graft dressings on a regular basis ect, now don't get me wrong, I'm
very fortunate to be healing fairly quickly, and my Cook is a fantastic
Nurse, but at times I get as Bored as Bat Shyte, I have caught up
with all of the office work relating to our business ect, I read for a
while, my oldest son has a mate who has access to all the latest
movies re: dvd's, so I have a few of them to watch, we get visitors
comming and going, I sit on the front deck at home watching all
the Bird Life in the Paddocks, I just about know every Duck, Swan,
Pelican ect by name, I wander down stairs, and get on the UHF,
and listen to all the Bull Shyte, I have never had so many cups of Tea
in my life, I get on the internet, now I,m not having a whinge,
because there are lots of people out there who are worse off by a
long way, but when you are used to being active it drives you up
the wall. PHEW I'VE LET OF SOME STEAM, feel good now.

Cheers
Daza

Doug, he said he was already bored... LOL

I know how Daza must feel. In April I had an operation on my arm. I was only off work for a week but I had my arm in a splint for 11 long weeks. Drove me mad. Wish I'd known about that website then.

Daza,

I know how you feel, after my back operation last year I was at home for close to 5 months, my 1st trip away from home was the Pyrenees gathering last year.

I spent hours and hours on the internet or just lying in bed trying to escape the pain and boredom. I spent about 4 hours a day doing rehab and was generally exhausted.

Cheers Kev

Hi Daza,

I went quietly nuts. Couldn't get into the shed or work on the projects I had waiting. Spent ages off work cos I couldn't lift or kneel after having my knee done.

Internet, dvd's and the like aren't much chop if they aren't usually your thing.

I don't have a lot to offer I'm afraid. Keep your chin up.

Mate, I'd try and use the time to do something gently productive. Remember what an opportunity that you have, not having to race around all the time.

There's no point taking up naval gazing and saying woa iz me.

Maybe you can't do much, but have you considered that at the moment you're not supposed to be doing much?

Relax dude, you'll live a lot longer.

Plan that trip ?

I had a period in hospital years ago and then came out to have a lot of work to do. Not like a graft but a long belly scar and not to lift for six weeks.

I was also told that what I could do depended on my motivation and how tired I got doing it. Had to re-fence a portion of the farm, re-seed lots of it with a seed drill and get stock in the paddocks they were supposed to be in. It was just after a bush fire.

As I said, not like a skin graft, but the scar shows the strain, but I would have gone mad had I not done the work.

Daza, sorry, I don't know your work or your achievements or the extent of your need for convalesce. Try to do some serious reading, but space with some exercise as I know what the lack of exercise did to me too :-(

games

OK When I need to try and let off a bit of steam...but I want to do it sitting on my butt, I play 'Peggle'. Don't buy the game or nothing, you can play for free.

my best friend put me onto it, we have fun with it, but then we are 2 bizarre girls with a bizarre friendship!!!!!!

Daza, maybe you could try writing your life story! If you haven't told every story to your own children recently, how will they tell the grandkids about Granpa when he is gone. I know since our 'olds' have passed there are so many details of stories that we can't remember. I have no grandchildren yet and I worry that maybe my last 'day' will come and I may not have left them any stories. Sometimes, the 'devil' is in the details and Chinese whispers of family legends don't quite tell the story. Tell each stage/story as a chapter as if you are talking to someone. It's surprising how many facts suddenly become clear once you start focussiing on an event.

they have heard lots of funny stories of our exploits in the past,
I dont want to give them any ideas,
........................................................................................
Thanks every body for your input, as I mentioned previously, there
are a lot of people with worse problems than me, being bored is a
period you go through, I'm used to being busy from Sunup to Dusk, Tomorrow I'm starting a fitness program, Exercise Bike and
Treadmill, wear off some the Cooks Special Treats she has been
spoiling me with.

Cheers
Daza

I am back to work next week after 10 months off, 2 tumours removed weeks of radiation and got the all clear. Not being computer literate bought a lap top, OziExplorer, Napmap digital mapping program, Garmin GPS, off road & city navigator software.
I have spent hours every day trying to teach myself and have succeeded in establishing routes and recording tracks, checking other web sites for way points and plotting courses. Now I have run out of time to travel but now I have developed new skills and can keep up with others in navigation.
