G'day, Can someone please tell me how to access the "in tank" fuel filter on a 2004 4cyl Camry?

Thankyou

I've replaced it on a 2002 Corolla. I'm guessing it would be very similar to the camry.
Take negative off battery.
Ensure tank is not full of fuel.
Lift out back seat.
Unscrew round cover.
Unscrew tank pump/sender/ pick up unit and lift out.
Be careful with the sender arm as it looks fragile.
The filter is a plastic clip-on unit that contains the pump. Disassembling it is straight-forward. From memory, the pump was fiddly to remove from the filter. Put new filter in the same way it was removed.
reassemble the lot.

Thanks Phil, is the seat easy to remove, asking because it had 75k service today and it doesnt look like seat has been removed to me. Also only charged 1.2hrs labour, for oil, filter etc.

They wouldn't have changed it. The toyota in tank filters are about $95.00. If you are doing it yourself take particular care with the o rings. If you loose one you will not be able to gain fuel pressure and they don't supply a new one with the kit.
The filter is a fairly big white round unit and the fuel pump usually sits down inside the centre of it. A bit fidly but doable.

The camry is on 15,000 klm intervals not 10,000 klm like the corolla so this is why the filter is changed at 75,000 klm service

Is there a filter charged on the invoice as they dont take long to do

There is a filter charge Don, $59.75 + labour, How is the seat removed? I don't see an easy way of removing it. The only bolts that I can see are at the rear of the seat with the backs of the rear seat folded down, and they look untouched to me.

From memory the seat base frame has a wire loop on either side at the front that sit down into white retainers in the floor panel

To release it you pull the front of the seat upwards & the base will come out

Yeah, I had a Camry before the Pathfinder, it is under the back seat. Pretty easy job to do!
