Hi guys,
We're planning a trip to Cape le Grande from
Perth and are thinking of overnighting in
Dragon Rocks to break the drive for the little ones. I have seen some photos of a few locations in ExplorOz but no information on recommended
camp sites, walk
trails, etc.
Does anyone have information you can pass on? I'll be travelling with a Rav4 and camper trailer, so am fine with gravel and some sand but nothing too rough with the trailer. I have left a message with the Shire of
Lake Grace but they haven't replied yet.
Cheers,
Tristan

Depending on your route -
The Breakaways along the
Hyden-
Norseman road is lovely, and is a big
camping area which we had all to ourselves last year. There are picnic tables, fire
places and a pit
toilet. Other
camping areas on this road are at
Lake Johnston and you can
camp at most of the feature rocks (some have
toilets).
We visited
Dragon Rocks on our
Holland Track trip. The turn off was not signed and not easy to find. I wouldn't consider it a
camping area.

Thanks for the heads up. I've wanted to visit
Dragon Rocks since they started to release numbats there (don't think I'll actually see any of course...). Might plan to head through there and stop near
Hopetoun -
The Breakaways look like a good spot but we aren't planning to head that far to the NE of our route at this stage.
Cheers,
Tristan

Hello,
We had a lovely overnight stay at Mason Bay on the way through - complete with a mother and calf bottlenose dolphin just off
the beach just before sunset. Thanks for
the tip!

How delightful Tristan
Thanks for the feedback. We are lucky to have such a glorious and accessible south coast.
