Thank you Paul for your post I did not realise that you knew me so
well but to enrol to study further may
well mean that I would displace someone younger that may really need to upgrade their knowledge to get a better foothold in life today.
If as you say I have to update my knowledge why should you state that the contents of my post should be placed in technical forums where it may be relevant (not relevent).
I try to keep up with technological changes today and that is difficult and the information was gleaned by me from a qualified engineer that designs for a major US OEM supplier of electronics including
inverters.
He stated and wrote words like the following:
People think that the Quasi Sine Wave (Square Wave .Modified Sine Wave) was dead and that Pure Sine Wave would rule the world but Quasi Wave
Inverters have continued to outgrow sales of pure sine wave proving that there is a lot of life left in this technology and the reason for this is a that a lot of equipment such as mobile phones ,TVs, drill chargers and all sorts of equipment that used to be a problem with Quasi sine are no longer a problem as this equipment now uses switchmode power supplies which will work fine on quasi sine wave form
inverters.
We have always found the quasi sine
inverters to be smaller, lower cost, better performance, more efficient and more reliable than sine wave.
With new technology and features new quasi sine can reduce running costs with a lower quiescent power need than pure sine.
There is the odd appliance such as a washing machine and some breadmakers where quasi sine wave
inverters simply do not work but all in all we find this technology is adequate for the general requirements in boats and vehicles.
As much as this is a personal opinion of this engineer it is still one that is at the coalface of change and with direct involvement in the industry.
My post was of general information that I considered appropriate to
inverters and your statement of “ludicrous, to ridiculous and useless” should be responded to with an explanation for the person or persons that may think it holds some value to them and its up to the individual to apply it or not apply it to their own use and your input would have had better value for the readers of the
forum if you due to your now indicated superior knowledge ask further why the statement was made rather than show your condemnation in a way that does nothing for the general readers and perhaps turns them away from further input.
