Have heard discussions previously on which?,. grease for wheel bearings .Some say Ht grease dosen't let enough oil content out to lubricate properlly, I just had a look at some wheel bearings that had been packed with nulon HT grease about 30,000ks ago, and every thing looks fine so far. Anyone had problems in regard to this issue.?

Cheers Axle.

We used HT grease supposedly suited for wheel bearing on one of the sons (EF XR8) The bearings were noisy again in six months.
Re-did them with new bearings (same brand same supplier) and "NO Melt" number 2 from valvoline and good as gold so maybe a dud set but I am sticking with no melt from now on.

Hi Howsey, Have taken no notice of valvoline products, but will keep that grease in mind.

Been using Castrol HT wheel bearing grease for years - made for the purpose - seems to be a winner - never had an issue.

agree with Darian,,, but consider this,, the opposite is overtemp and sometimes catastohic failure,,

which is best,, un announced failure or a bit of noise to warn you

HT is my bet and I have used it from box and boat trailers to 50 tonne low loaders,, packed correctly and tensioned correctly,, no known failures over 30 years

Have a look at the temperature spec for HT grease you'll find it's more suited to race cars ;-)

Something like "Castrol APX T" is more suited to the range of temps commonly encountered in a street car.

Must admit I've used HT grease on many occasions though, without any ill effects.
