Moderation and Forum Issues Tonight

Time to set the facts straight as it appears a number of people have been caught up in what we believe was a series of trolling posts, I have removed them from view.

An off topic (but sensitive) post was loaded to the system and it had to be removed as it was completly off topic. A number of people seemed to get caught up in the topic and not the simple fact that the ExplorOz forum is not the place for such posts. It appears that after we moderated the post a number of people jumped up and down straight away loading several trolling posts against the moderation team. It appeared as if this was a deliberate action to test the moderators.

The other issue tonight seems to stem from the birthdays posts - I posted this answer earlier however it is now not showing:

There is nothing wrong with wishing someone a happy birthday at all and this is the reason that the birthday persons name is hyperlinked directly to the send member message function. So where their name is shown simply click and send them the MM birthday message. The system will also have already sent them an email wishing them a happy day from all at EO. This is how the system was written several years ago and was the reason it was written this way.

The purpose of this post is the end this issue. A few people have had their accounts removed and some have requested to be removed - not a great night.

I ask again if you have a problem with the moderation activites bring it up with us offline in email or in Alert Moderator - onlline system posts will not be tollerated.
