G'day All,
Last year a few of us walked in from the
gate at the Juntion of Mcfarlane Flat Track and Cobberas Track.
We failed to find the border cairn. :-(
Can anyone(who has been there) supply us with detailed directions.
We intend to give it another go in a couple of weeks.

We used to visit and
camp at
Cowombat flat regularly before the tracks were closed and don't ever remember a cairn being there. There was only the NPWS steel posts stopping people driving into NSW.
There is/was a rock cairn at the top of both Cobberas'
Mind you in those days we drove/walked with just a compass and topo map so we might not have even reached the top of the
hill, it was pretty much covered in trees and as the weather was closing in we didn't hang around but it seemed at the time that we were at the high point.
Was about 25 years ago so memory is pretty dim ;-))

Hi Brian, also last year three of us camped at Native Dog Flat and attempted to 4WD in to the
locked gate at
junction of Cobberas Tk and McFarlane Tk. Stopped by a steep section which is marked on Rooftop's map. Met others ( maybe it was you!!)who suggested that it's better to
camp near the
gate and do the walk in from there taking all day. They too could not find cairn as there is too much regrowth from 2003 fires. Map has pic of cairn and says it was rebuilt in 2004.
On the same trip we drove up Mt Tingaringy and there is a cairn up there which you can drive to. I had been meaning to contact the map maker to get GPS of cairn. Here is the website: www.feathertopmapping.biz/ Goodluck with the trip and post a report with any tips so we can give it a go in January. Cheers, Glenn
