Depends on the park. I believe that most will allow dogs on lead. Google the Parks you're interested in visiting.

NSW NPWS converted a recreation area of many years to a conservation area a couple of years ago ... and consequently banned pets.

Area used to be an old mining district ... much of it turned over, dug up and dredged ... still havent worked out what they think they're conserving yet.

Probably a good thing they banned pets anyway ... my dog used to be terrified every time a mob of feral pigs ran through the camping area.

Nuisance that it is ... best idea is to check out variations park by park.

Not in Victoria

Beware the current fire bans in Victoria and the regulations governing www.cfa.vic.gov.au
Zero tolerance policy this year
No friendly warning like we gave last year

It seems to vary from park to park even in the same state. There is no rock solid answer. I can think of conservation parks that allow dogs and others that do not. Just look up the specific parks on the net or ring them. Be aware that there can be baiting programs using 1080 which will usually be lethal for your dog if it picks up a bait and there is no treatment even if you had time to get it to a vet.

The best advice is to check with each one as part of your trip planning. As a general rule and across Australia conservation parks are setup for that reason. To allow areas to remediate and attract the native flora and fauna. With that goal in mind then the no pets rule normally applies. In South Australia and other states there are a number of private conservation parks with the same goals and they normally have a no pets rule as well
