If you are using 80/90 drop it and put in a synthetic oil such as
Mobil 424 or similar, 80/90 is to thick and won't get into the syncroes properly.

Fairlane,
Start saving for a new G/box?
If it's causing too much hassle when changing gears, you could try the old fashioned double declutch (Clutch in, shift to neutral, clutch out, clutch in, shift into next gear, clutch out).
This used to be the only way to change gears in the olden days and sometimes can make a stuffed syncro set up last a lot longer IMHO.
Any one of us who ever drove Series 1 or Series 2 Landrovers will remember doing this when shifting 1-2, 2-3, 3-2 and 2-1.
Hope this helps.
Disco.

Double declutching will only work if you match the engine revs to the road speed of the selected gear. ie more revs when going down, if you where quick enough going up their was no need to blip the throttle.

Hi Pete,
You are correct, but doing that (balancing the revs) is very much an acquired skill developed with lots of practice and a good knowledge of your vehicle.
Doesn't mean that double declutching shouldn't be an option, given the skills are there.
As an aside, if they are allowed, the old 48-55 Ford trucks with the spur cut gearbox soon taught you to double declutch properly. If you stuffed up a gear change it was:- Stop the truck, back into 1st and start all over again.
Does anyone else remember them?

Lol You would not be the first to have to start all over again,If you are a bit rusty on road rangers its the same deal, especially when your and old fart and forget what gear you are in . lol
