I've got a Toyota and it's an ex-Govt jobby so it came with a snorkel. All well and fine but the intake for this thing has a big rectangular box which looks like it was designed to be aerodynamic because it doesn't look like it actually does anything much else and inside it is the more traditional conical kind of intake.

I'm so tempted to pull the stupid looking box of it simply because I find it annoying to look at!

Has anybody else got the enclosure on their snorkel intake and have they ripped it off or replaced it with a RAM intake? Should I just leave it as an annoying eyesore and feel good about what a wonderful job it does and why is it there, what's it supposed to be doing???

regards,

Sam.

they don't look very good do they. call mine the knob im going to put the class bowel type on mine as they work very well on my truck and seem to filter out the large particles before they get to the air filter.

That big sqaure knob is actually pre cleaner.
It starts seperating dust from air BEFORE it goes to the airfilter, I'll go out on a limb and say the the Toyota set-up is pretty good, and many will swear it works
If you are planning on some dusty driving, keep it on.
