Hi all, just a question about these max trax things. Went for a spin on the quads this weekend and saw 3 cars stranded on the mudflats. looked like one got bogged, then one went to help and it got bogged, and so on. Now they were all a fair way from firm ground - so too far for anyone to realistically offer to winch them out without risking getting bogged themselves. I've seen these maxtrax advertised and watched the video- how good do you speculate that they might be in thick mud? I am thinking of getting a set for the other half for christmas. Also - has anyone compared the maxtrax to the similar product sold by TJM?

If they work as
well in mud as they do in sand they would be a big help but much harder to dig out...

Absolutly hopeless in deep mud, they have to have support under them or you will smash them to pieces. I have seen it done. Don't waste your money.

Hi Oz doc
Maxtraxs do work
well in mud, the pimples/ridges allow the tyres to grip rather than as in the case of smooth or flat type of bog mats that leave your
wheels spinning whilst trying to grip onto the mat.
Sorry I am not familiar with TJMs version.

Phil
We have ours bolted (sort of) to the roof rack, had them in the shed in
Perth. but had a brain wave (I wont get bogged in the shed) so they go every where we go.
Cheers

Have used them in the sand at
Stockton and in the mud, where we actually broke one. They work very
well, especially in the sand. You will still need your long handled shovel though.
The broken track was replaced no questions asked, and it was used on 6 different vehicles, but thats another story!
