The contract price for LPG has dropped an amazing 38% for November 2008. This is the price that Aussie prices are based on!
Lets see if it makes it to the bowser.

I`m curious to know why the price of LPG in
Perth has suddenly gone from 61C/litre to 66 C/litre up to a maximum of 71.9 in the Northern Suburbs , but two outlets are selling at 59.9 and have been doing so for the past 6 months.!! I know where I`ve been filling up every time . Its another blatant rip off scheme once again.

Apparently the 'Sauci CP (contract price)' is what LPG is priced by. When it was going up the price at the pump would rise as
well and the Saudi CP was the reason given.....thats why I'm hoping that it should come way down now. Based on the massive price drop LPG should be around 32-34cpl in the next week or so.
Anything above that will be pure profiteering
Time will tell

Many thanks for letting me know whats going on. As you say , only time will tell. I wont hold my breath , but will be pleasantly surprised to see it drop back to 30 something cents/litre, or even in the 40 something cents/litre. I wait with baited breath.

The normal price around
Wollongong has been 69.9 for about twelve months now so lets hope it flows through to here as
well.

Rob,
In $A the drop is about 26%. We're currently paying about 60c/L in
Melbourne so I guess if it gets passed on 45c/L is the best we can expect (I wouldn't complain about that LOL).
Then take out the 4c shopper docket deal and it would be around 41c/L, that is seriously cheap motoring. I always buy Shell LPG, not only for the discount, I find I get the best mileage out of it.
My gut feel is that they will have to pass most of it on. ULP is currently as low as $1.25/L so to maintain the appeal of LPG it must remain competitive.
LPG atarted this year at 70c/L and dropped to 60 whilst the price of ULP increased. So to my simple mind, that does not suggest any parity pricing between the two, rather it is simply sold at whatever margin is required over the wholesale price.
Here's hoping,
Jim.

In Melbournes outer east LPG is constantly 59.9 to 61.9 at shell and the like. A couple of the independents are constantly high 60s. Spoke to one of them about it and she showed me the price which she had to purchase it for. It was above what Shell were paying for it. Unfortunately not a level playin field for the independents.

In
Bundaberg, BP is at 84.9cpl while
Mobil and
United are at 79.9cpl for LPG.
Brisbane is much cheaper, in the low 60s.
So why do they rip up off? - Answer, because they can!
Heading north up the highway from
Brisbane, there are two BP servos near Nambour. The price of LPG is always 5cpl dearer in the one for the north bound lane than the one servicing the south bound lane. You can't see this when travelling as they are hidden from each other by the terrain. Talk about taking advantage of the travellers!

Wish we had your LPG prices here in the top end.
Darwin LPG between 92.9 - 96.9 Litre, and over a $1.00 as you get a 100Km out of town.
Bet you wont see a reduction though........
