We also have the 4x2 version twin cab & use it for towing our van. As stated further down a bit light in the rear end when empty, but yep plenty of power & economical in my opinion.

A friend has a 4x4 with the doors that open backwards and a purpose built hutch on the back. He has been away with us on a couple of trips and it appears to be a competent touring 4x4. he has not scrimped on what he takes and it performs
well and is economical. It is also his work vehicle so when not camping/touring it carries much equipment for tree killing and shaping. As it is a business vehicle the cost is very much in the tax break bracket but he appears happy with it so i guess that is all that matters in the long run. rgds

Brother in law has one, 4x4,.Plenty of power although a little high geared in 1st however tows a horse float etc and gets a pretty rough time.Suggest a steel tray as they can be fairly light in the rear when unloaded particularily on the dirt. That said good value for money.

We have a manual BT 50 SDX Freestyle Cab with an aluminium tray back.
It is 12 months old and done 18000 K's. We have made a few modifications to suit us as we carry a Trayon camper and a Rhino rack which means, fully loaded we gross just under 3 tonne. Loaded we do about 13 - 14 L to 100 K's - empty it does about 9.5. It does all we have asked of it easily with plenty of power. We use airbagman bellows to carry the weight of the Trayon and have not had a problem at all.
The only thing we haven't had it through is deep
water - nothing over about 800mm.
We are very happy and have had no problems at all to date.
Cheers

We have had several clients with them and I reckon they are pretty good value for money. The observation about high geared in the lower of the high range gears is correct. We find in sand that low range is better where most others would be in high range. Still that is not a criticism just a dirving characteristic.
Apart from that the intercooler is mounted very low and definately needs protection if you are off-road, in sand or mud.
Apart from that they drive and operate very
well
