Have just had a commodore VE Omega converted to gas, Car works fine but after about 20km's of driving the car stalls at an intersection or round about at low revs. Have taken it back to the installer a number of times, they say they do something, but the problem keeps coming back. VERRY FRUSTRATED! does any one have any ideas or similar problem

OK, then the mixture is going lean under deceleration and causing the engine to stall (if the mixture went rich, the engine would flood and be hard to start)

If running on petrol, you have no issues at all with engine operation, then the OEM equipment and sensors are OK.

Not knowing exactly what kit you have fitted, I would guess faulty power valve or LPG ECU issues.

The problem mostly likely will not be evident in the workshop as they will only run the car for a short time, and each time you start the car, the LPG system will reset to default starting settings. As you drive, the LPG system changes to throttle position and compensates by adjusting LPG fuel mixtures. When the vehicle returns to idle, it does not adjust back to the pre-defined idle settings. The more you drive without turning the engine off and the more you change speed, usually the shorter the time before it stalls.

Try driving around the back streets, accelerating and decelerating as much as you can and see how far you can get before it stalls. Then get to a major road (less change in speeds), and see how long you can drive - if it is electronic, the less you change speed the longer you should be able to drive for.

I have had two vehicles suffer similar issues. One was a faulty power valve, the other was a faulty LPG ECU.

Its a pain to keep going back - but do not settle - TAKE IT BACK.

There could be other issues, but this is what I have been through and it may help you. I have had several vehicles on LPG and most have been trouble free from installation.

Lankylou,
In view of the fact that you have just had the conversion done I would keep taking it back to the gas fitting mob till they get it right.
BUT I would make it very plainly known that you are not happy about the continuing problem, and will be taking further action (ie: speaking direct to the manufacturer/distributor of the injection system) if the problem is not sorted posthaste.

Should this not work, you may have to consider approaching the Small Claims Tribunal or it's equivalent in your state.

Hope this helps somehow.

Disco.

Had a similar problem with our TJ Magna. Used to stall when pulled up at the lights with Aircon on. When the aircon kicked in it would stall If it was in neutral no problem only if you were still in drive. To the best of my knowledge the Installer adjusted the idle up when air con kicks in somehow and retuned the gas. He did mention with the new convertor that after a couple of weeks it would need a retune as the internal diaphragms wore in.
