Donk have a look at Post 63199

I use the following

Site Link

I have used this in my boat and 4WD whenever I go on a long trip
It cannot do any harm and the guys that service my vehicle suggest it could help

Maybe someone who is smarter than me can tell me if the two are the same and what they do to the injectors etc

gday guys

i think these type of things are just a gimmic.
i'de say that the only thing they do is add to the octane level so your engine goes better. buy some more when that runs out and so on.

just a thought??

I swear by Gull BioDiesel, I use whatever is available (BP, Caltex etc) when I usually fill up, but when I do a trip, for example to Perth, I fill up with Gull BioDiesel at least a week prior and on the way back home.

In my mind I'm sure it runs smoother for the next few months.

Yes, it could all be in my mind, but that's ok too, it's not alone :-))

Ive used it and noticed no difference, maybe I didnt need it.

Thats the problem with many fuel additives, often you dont know if you need them or not.
And if you do its usually impossible to tell how effective they were.

Until companies like these submit their product for independant testing we'll never know if we are buying snake oil or not

It seems the main thing F10 does is remove water from fuel. There is a far cheaper way to do that. I learnt from researching this site a long time ago that all you need to do is put about 500ml of Methylated Spirits in a full tank of diesel about twice a year. very cheap option. Metho works the same way - absorbs water and condensation and is expelled through the combustion process.

You will never get agreement on this site whether additives are worth it or not. Some say they are gimmicks and some swear by them. Personally I do not use any oil additivies as I believe modern oils are of a very good quality if you buy the best (e.g. Penrite).
I do use a fuel additive in my 60 series called Pro Ma DT5 PLUS Concentrated Diesel treatment. My cousin put me onto it years ago as he used it in his trucks (over a million Km in one of them and still running as sweet as). I believe it does keep the injectors clean and the engine thus performs better. I buy a 5 litre container (cheaper way) and it lasts me about 18 monthsn to two years. I use it every second tank and if I forget and miss a few tanks the engine is noticeably rouger at idle. I believe it works but thats just my humble opinion. If you want to check it out their web page is www. pro-masystems.com.
I am not associated with eith proma or penrite. These are just products I use as I find them the best for my purposes.
Cheers,
GPM

DO NOT USE METHO IN DIESEL.

It will seperate out the diesel into 2 distinct layers.
It acts as a catalyst for the fuel to seperate, *esterfication???*
Get some diesel in a clear jar, add metho, and watch...
shudder.

You can use metho in petrol to absorb water.

For diesel. Use Acetone in less than 1% concentration.
This will enable the water to be dissolved into the fuel and burnt, so there will not be a water/ diesel layer that can allow the alge to grow in.
This will not harm any seals (or dolphins either) or fuel pump lubricity etc at these levels, however it will aid in cleaning up the injectors etc.
its one of the main active ingredients in most diesel cleaners.

Trains

Please DO NOT USE METHO IN DIESEL

There is also a Brisbane based company that has a similar product, but can't remember the name (will post if I do) but I did use it previously but noticed little difference.

Similar to another post it is hard to assess because maybe the other vehicle didn't need it??
