i have driven this track several times and consider this and other west coast tasmania tracks the best i have driven for beauty, remoteness and difficulty.
since the
bridge at
granite creek has gone the bypass particularly if coming from the south is almost impassable and for only the most experienced and game. as said above steep with no winching points. i believe several people have died here in recent years trying to cross with fast running water in the creek.
regards peter

"coming from the south is almost impassable"
Pete it certainly can be challenging for vehicles with limited wheel travel but if one has good clearance & tyres it can normally be done with some carefull wheel placement obviously avoiding the crossing after heavy rain. We found the rest of the track to be basically rough but fairly easy.
