3500 kms over 4 weeks.
Worst towing 2600kg 23ft Van 21.3 l/100km (windy)
Best towing, 19.3 l/100km
Best touring no van, over 160km 8.5 l/100km.
Normal city short runs 13 l/100km.
Comfortable with plenty of power, no magic fuel economy, happy overall as van is really big, like towing parachute.

Hi Russell,
I have the D40 Manual diesel.
My average over 10,000 km trip with car loaded to max GVM not towing.
* City 12.5L/100km
* Country 13.5L/100km
I have never been below 11.5L/100km. I drive like an old man.
I am not happy with the economy. There are many out there with the oponion. I spoke to at least a dozen on my trip and only one had got below 10L/100km.
I believe Nissan are not telling the truth.
Have you had any problems with your Navara?
Marco

I wanted power and that comes at a cost, currently city running shows 26 litres used and 254kms and thats a first.
Past Scanguage readings indicate average 5 liters over 110 litres error factor.
All my fuel calcs are done
tank fill to brim, the distance cals are based on odometer which checks out correct with Scanguage and GPS.
Since its a 160litre
tank it'll be a while before I fillup. The so called ADR 81 fuel ratings are self assesed ratings from laboratory testing and they all are a crock. I understand the performance is muffled to meet European Emission Standards.
I've now done 8500km and had no problems in any department.

We have done 35,000ks now in our D40 diesel manual.
Never had the slightest problem with the vehicle. Fabulous touring car IMHO.
Around town low 10'sL/100
Highway (without van) 8.3L/100 (100kph on cruise)
Highway (with van, 1.7T Evernew pop top) 12.5L /100 (95kph on cruise)
Worst figure was with same van pushing on into head wind all day.
15.5L/100 (95kph on cruise in hilly terrain). I deliberately gave it a bit of a hard time on this particular day because I was interested in the economy under those conditions. Very happy.
Our vehicle runs full synthetic oils and this instantly gained us a 10% improvement in economy. (
Mobil Delvac 1)
Also put a tube of Nulon in the gearbox.
The vehicle is very quiet, extremely smooth and economical, and has never left us wanting more power.

I met a guy in the Lower Levels at
Katherine who was towing a 23Ft Jayco Sterling with a brand new LC200 V8.
He was getting 23-26 l per 100km and reasoned that the 10K extra for the diesel would take a long time to pay for.
Looking at your figures he was right.

Big difference between V8 and 4 cylinder. I would be upset If I got those results. Big difference in price too!

Spotted a second hand 200 v8 diesel sahara for $102000...that adds up to a lot of diesel for a Navara D40....lol
