hi to all you budding auto electricians
I have a 97 100 series diesel cruiser on which the front passenger
seat belt warning light flashes on and off regardless of
seat being occupied or not , the only time the light stops is when I depress the brake pedal
any help greatly appreciated

The quick and dirty fix is to find the connector under the
seat and disconnect it.
Cheers

That could result in the light being permantly on , (not sure) , I had the timing belt warning litght stay on at the 600,000 Ks , the little press aswitch had given up so I took the dash apart and removed the LED , which is connected via printed circuits on the rear of the panel so simply cutting a wire was not an option , So if his
seat belt light satys on after removing the wire he may have to take measures and remove the led,
.

Hi guys,
On my hundred the light turns off if you disconect the connector. If you have air bags, I would be very careful doing this, the vehicle won't know if someone is in the passenger
seat and the airbag won't deploy... I just made a wire loop with a switch so I can turn the light off when no one is sitting there and on when they are.
For some reason the GXL seats I got didn't have the sensor in them (I thought they all would).
Cheers,
Ross.

The wiring system may not be all that different in the 100 series regarding your problem, here's the wiring section that deals with
seat belt warning light and switch for the 80 series , it might be of help ,

i think you have a pressure switch and
seat belt switch combined in the 100 series disconecting the wiring under the
seat should recify the light coming on the pressure switch closes contacts to bring the switch on, depressing the brake switch to get light off may mean the earth for the dash is corroded. earth should be in behind drivers side kick panel near the accelarator
