Good Morning Everyone
My son recently ran up the back of someone all be it at about 10kph. As you can imagine no damage to him given the vehicle (A bit to the other though). My question is that the HJ60 has all of a sudden started popping out of 2nd & 3rd gear occassionally. This vehicle has never done it before. Can anyone shed some light? Could this be caused from the accident? And what could I do about it?

Morto,
I have no idea of the set up on those things, but could it be a bent selector rod not allowing things to fully engage ?
Maybe the sharp impact, combined with old weakened engine/gearbox mpounts may have let everything move about a bit.

Hello,
That model have a plastic/nylon bush at the bottom of the gear shifter which can wear possibly causing this problem.
To get it out undo around the base of the gear shift ,then get 2 screwdrivers to push down and twist the collar around the base of gear shift . It should then come out easily.
A fairly easy thing to check first up.
Regards Alan.

Completely agree with Alan.
The '85 / 75 series trayback I had did exactly the same thing (without a collision though!)
You will find that bush will be in a hundred pieces, it apparently was one of the most used Toyota spare parts.

Hi Westozal
You were dead right. A quick fix. Just lucky it wasn't more serious.
Thanks again
