In early June I was walking into
Jim Jim Falls at
Kakadu National Park. My ankle went from underneath me and I sprained it really badly. Steve stopped and offered assistance along with others in his tour, I just wanted to say a very big thank you to all who helped me, and in particular Steve. We left for
Adelaide the very next morning as we had a phone call from my father inlaw telling us he had been diagnosed with Metastatic Cancer, it took us 4 days to get down to
Adelaide this meant we had to cut our holiday short although this was not a problem. On arriving in
Adelaide my husband asked the Drs what was life expectancy he was told 2-3 Months without treatment or 6-12 with Chemo if it worked. This was bleep tering, asmy father in law was from
Broken Hill NSW we made a promise that we would make sure he got back home, so after three months in
Adelaide we drove him home to continue his chemo in the
Hill. Unfortunatly Chemo didn't work and my father in law passed away on the 23 Oct at home.
I had just spent the last 5 months watching my father in law getting sicker and more frail by the day, and my dear husband dilligently nurse him at home, nothing was ever too much trouble, but the sadest thing was my husband was doing anything, and everything he could in the hope of changing the outcome, and sadly that wasn't to be.
So now we are back at home in Qld with our family, and this experience has changed us for the better in so many ways, things you thought were important are suddenly not, we understand now more than ever before it is important to do everything in life that you want to do and don't wait.
My father in law was a very
young 73 yr old never had a sick day in his life and very active.

Good one Steve.
Andrea we have heard of Steve helping others on quite a few occasions before, nice to see someone who still is not afraid to help out when someone else is in need.
Sadly does not seem to be the norm these days.
No good about your FIL.
I recently was advised about the brother of an acquaintance of
mine who developed a very aggressive form of Leukemia and passed away very quickly, he was only 33 yo, very sad.
As you say get out and do it as life can pass so quickly.

Hi Andrea.
Sorry to hear about you Father In-law, One of our close friends has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, unfortunately the health system failed her, I wont go into detail as this is not the platform for to do so.
I remember having a laugh with you on the walk out of Jim Jim, glad I was able to help.
Keep your chin up and enjoy your next trip, perhaps we may meet again.
Cheers Steve.

Steve is fast developing a reputation as the 'Saviour of the top End'. Entirely in character from my observations on this
forum.
Well done Steve.
Sorry too about your Father in Law.
Mine died in similar circumstances at age 64, and while bleep tering for all concerned, you are spot on about the ability to focus on the positives and not all families get the opportunity to say what needs to be said to each other before it is too late.
Cheers,
Matt.
