Howdy folks...

Now, call it a long shot/ dream whatever but as I plan to hopefully do some trips in the Cruiser next year, i would love to investigate/ sample alternate fuels that are maybe cheaper (?) & help the environment.

as I am a student with a small budget and studying enviro science, its appealing on both fronts...

I dunno how much 'hocus pocus' is around but all the talk i hear about running a car on water and/ or electricity, are they possibly an option in the near future?

Cheers for your replies...

Solar electric or water will never power your present Cruiser, unless you as a student invent something wonderful and make your fortune.

Battery powered cars, whether charged from mains power or solar are not suitable for long distance travel, although the hybrid running on conventional fuel plus battery is a step in the right direction.

The following extract from aboutmyplanet.com gives options on solar cars as they are now - battery powered and charged from solar panels at home, as an alternative to cars carrying their own panels.

"Solar Powered Cars traditionally are defined as cars which run on energy from the sun. They got their first recognition as a possible transportation method through the series of annual races across Australia.

This definition however is changing, in recent years of the green movement, solar power explosion now allows people to charge plug in electric vehicles (PEVs) through solar panels installed on their homes and in recent history solar panels installed on the roof of the car itself.

There is a very bright future for solar energy to power our transportation needs and we're just scratching the surface of the possibilities."

Go to it Ro - a cheap to run, non fossil fuelled car than can tour the outback - there's you next project!

Ro

I have recently bought a second hand mercedes motor for another project. The seller is converting his mercedes coupe to electric. The components DC Electric motor, batteries etc are all available.

He reckons he is looking at approx $4k for the motor, $14k for the batteries and he will probably only get about 150km range.

It is a lot of money for such a short range. Probably not economically worth it, but technology is improving and costs are coming down so it may sooon be economical

Probably not pie in the sky Rowan.

Alternatives have been round for a generation ormore going right back to Dr Nicolai Telsa, who was able to transmit electricity the ay we transmit radio waves today - and light up incandescant globes up to 10 miles away with NO WIRES!

Mogules like General Electric, who were heavily invested in Copper mining and production of copper wire etc made sure that technology(patents etc) never saw light of day!

In the same way today Opec & the Arabs who control it make sure the world remains dependent on oil & gas - while their power and livelihoods depend on selling same - by making sure that things like "browns gas" (google is your friend) never get to commercial production that might threaten the world oil oligarchy.

There are however new technologies on the cusp of development - that when the time comes & peak oil is a reality - will be put into commercial productin eventually.

Energy from the domain of Time will be the big one.

The world made a quantum leap - with the advent of nucelar technology / power - all of that from splitting the atom.

Splitting the atom - was essentially the release of thehuge amount of energy trapped within Mass.

Heres a clue for you about the amount of energy trapped within the domain of time.

There s as much energy trapped within the domain of time as there is within Mass. (~ 9 x 10 ^16 Joules per second).

(Clue - the speed of light is ~ 3 x 10 ^8 Meters / Per Second).

Einsteins special relativity theorem (which was never peer reviewed) claimed E = MC^2, where C was the presumed limit velocity (speed) of light in a vacuum.

C^2 = (3 x 10^8) Squared, which is 9 x 10 ^16, or the same number of joules of energy in one second.

Few people understand what TIME really is!

Watches (and clocks) measure Gravity, the number of 24 hour earth spins about its own axis (during a 365.25 annual eleiptical orbot of earth about the sun).

The Calendar measures TIME - the Earths annual eliptical orbit of 365.25 days about the sun.

Time - or the Earths Mass x Its velocity is a "kinetic energy".

If you were to hop off the earth and stay staionary in space for a year until the earth came back round and smacked into you - it would hurt a LOT worse than getting hit bye a bus!

The kinetic energy of the Earth (Time) is an immense energy similar to that released when one splits the atom.

When we learn to utilise that energy - the same way - we now utilise nuclear energy - that will be the next quantum leap for makind. (TIME It is NOT a clean energy without consequence just as nuclear energy has it's downsides in radiation).

When that happens - we will have reached what biblical Revelations descrbes as the "time of the end" (more correctly the end of time & its domnion over man).

You could look at http://www.cheniere.org for advancesin MEGS by TE Bearden (Motionless Electromagnetic Generators) already in production.

TE Bearden proposed the new theorem

E = Delta (change in) TC^2

where

E = energy
Delta = Change in
T = Time
C = Universal Constant (limit Velocity Light)
^2 = Squared.

This theroem, can be used with Einsteins special relativity theorem,

E = MC^2

where
E= Energy
M = Mass
C = Limit Velocity Light
^2 = squared

to resolve the two equations and reveal the relationship between Mass & Time (in terms of the amount of energy contained within each).

If

E = MC^2

&

E = Delta TC^2

Then it necessarily follows that:-

MC^2 = Delta TC^2

Dividing each side of this equation by C^2 yeilds

M = Delta T

Mass equals Change in Time.

There is as much energy in Mass (splittting the atom or nuclear energy) as there is trapped or compressed within the realm of Time (which we KNOW is a form of kinetic energy - the earthsmass times it's velocity!

Yes - ther eare in effect C^2 Joules of energy (9 x 10 ^ 16) Jules of energy available within every second.

What are the downsides of tapping this known kinetic energy source?

Well - the Erath is in whats known as a geosynchronous orebit about the sun.

The amount of kinetic energy is JUST enough to hold us in that special oribital distance that takes 365.25 days to compete an orbit of the sun.

If we are to CONVERT some of that energy to another form (knowing that energy can beneither created nor destroyed - just converted from one form to another), to say heat or electricity for propulsiuon of your alternative fuel car 4Wd etc...it is VERY likely the earths orbit would decay until the earth spirals OUT of geosynchronous orbit about the sun into a diasterous spiral into the sun itself. (The Kiss your hairy butt goodbye scenario).

So - there are NEW energys avalable out there - the only question remains - ARE we responsible enough yet to be entrusted with control of such technology?

Are we good custodians of nuclear energy?

After all we are balanced on the precipice of a disasterous nuclear war with Iran - that in all probability would lead to an all out nuclear 3rd world war to end all wars!

What makes anyone think - we could be entrusted with the power to tap the earths kinetic energy (time) - and risk plummetting the earth into the sun?

If we don;t care about sedtroying the Earth with Nukes - why would we be any different with crashing our abode into the sun?

As you can see - man is not yet ready to be so entrusted with such technology - which is why the progenitors of such knowlege as myself and the likes of Tom Bearden - don't share our mutual discoveries with mainstream science & the military industraila complex that governs this world.

The time is not yet right - we are at whats known in biblical revelatory parlance is the revealing of the 6th seal!

We are not yet at "The Time of the end" (Or more correctly - the end of the dominance over man of the domain of time).

When that time comes - we wlll truly be "time lords" of the imaginary Dr Who ilk! (OK StarTrekkers like Kirk for the younger ones here).

And - when that time comes.

M = Delta T will be the key that unlocks the new energy source!

That time is not yet but is not far off.

Pateince is the answer.

The reward of patience - is patience! ;o) (Tsun Tzu!)

Cheers!

Hi Rowan

There is a massive amount of impractical and engineeringly unsound non-sense about on this stuff.

In the context of a student, concerned about enviroment you may know already that diesel fuels can have significant small particulate health concerns.

Your only practical options now, for lower impact 4wding/touring are to first have a small 4wd petrol vehicle and then to run it on gas.

The only way to go is a Toshiba 200kwe conversion:

Toshiba 200kwe

It may take a few minor modifications to fit a camper trailer, but worth it in the long run. Don't forget to use anderson plugs though.

I am not affiliated, and I don't have a number, but you should be able to contact your local Toshiba rep. Let us know how your converison goes.
