Moose,

Been there a couple of times and if you want hardcore 4x4 action then go to Landcruiser park or one of the others. Gordon Country does have a track here and there but nothing like specific 4x4 parks.

If you are after a relaxing weekend by the river then go to Gordon Country.

G'day Troll 81
Would you mind expanding a bit on the GC tracks - "a track here and there" is a bit vague. I guess I should have been a bit more detailed in what I was interested in knowing.
I'm not looking for hard stuff and am well aware of the 4WD park options. Am actually after somewhere to take the neighbours for a first time camping and bit of easy/scenic 4WDing experience. So I'm interested in knowing stuff like:
* are the tracks easy and suitable for a novice?;
* is there lantana or anything else that may scratch the paint work on their new Pajero?;
* are there enough tracks to fill in a day of poking around?(otherwise will have to plan to take them elsewhere during the weekend).
Cheers from the Moose

To be honest mate we have only been there 3 times but not with the intention to go on the tracks but we did find some tracks on one of the trips and I would rate them medium to advance and the yup truck will come back with scratches for sure. I had to use both lockers on one of the hills and there was no room to turn around with a 300m drop to the right and mountain to the left. The place is big though so I am sure there are plenty of other tracks out there but I don’t think it was designed to be a 4x4 park like some of the others

Thanks Chisel
Was at JH on the weekend. Nice enough place. Plenty of tracks with lots of slippery black soil after rain (which it did on Saturday). Rated from easy to extreme. Plenty of driving there for a weekend.Camping areas OK too.
But it's not the sort of place I'm after for the purpose discussed in my follow-up to Troll 81 above.
Did a quick sprint down the road and Gordon County looked like a good place to take the neighbour. Didn't have time to check it out properly and thus my posting.
Cheers from the Moose
