Saharaman (aka Geepeem)
HI All,
Just read a story about the D-Max. The new 4x2 and 4x4 Isuzu D-Max are now in showrooms. It has the same mechanicals as the Holden Colorado Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) is selling the vehicles through 40 outlets. None of the Isuzu dealers are current Holden dealers due to the potential conflict of interest. IUA will market the D-MAX at a price that is claimed to be about $5000 cheaper than Colorado but mechanically identical. Peak power is 120kW at 3600rpm, with maximum torque of 360Nm occurring between 1800 and 2800rpm for the manual transmission variants or 333Nm from 1600 to 3200rpm for the automatic variants (3rd generation 3 litre Common Rail Turbo). Fuel consumption for the range (in accordance with ADR81/01 combined-cycle testing) ranges from 7.9 to 9.0L/100km. A LS Crew Cab diesel 4x2 has just done a
test run from
Broken Hill to Gatton on 1 tank of juice (1448km).
Anyone thinking of buying a Colorado may wish to
check out the D-Max as
well.
I have no association with Isuzu – just thought Forumites may be interested in this info..
Cheers,
GPM

Hi Saharaman, I've been keeping up with all the news about the D-Max. The Colorado and D-Max are both built in Thailand, like all the other utes but the D-Max is built in another factory to the Colorado. From what I can make out Holden is to lose the Colorado built by Isuzu and may end up with some thing from the States.
So yes it is going to be interesting to see how
well they sell, I for one being a mad Isuzu fan will be looking at one in a few years, that is if I can wear out my MU hahahaha.
Cheers Bruce

GPM.
Have had a bit of a look at both myself (not interested in buying, more out of interest), however a very good friend of
mine who has too much time on his hands has eluded to similar to what you have stated. According to him and my ability to recolaect our conversations, the Colorado and D-max ARE the same vehicle, however it is just the left overs from some contractual arrangements between GM and Isuzu. Holden will be releasing their own utility in the coming years, apparently rumour has it, utilising a renault based engine ;). Also, I am informed that Isuzu will be releasing in the next few years a 4wd wagon, similar to the Jackaroo refered to OS as a Wizard 7??
In
perth Isuzu is being sold through either AHG or DVG, not sure on the other half of the country.
Interesting times ahead.

This is the original Wizard a 1996 model with the 3.1TD, which we own, the next was the same as the Frontera, but with the 4JX1 motor (probably Isuzu only big let down).
