Hi Guys,
On a recent trip I left the camera behind and decided to take a couple of photos with the phone – better than nothing I thought. Now I can’t seem to get them out and I believe it is just me and technology.
Can any one tell me how? I plugged the LG550 into my laptop last night and it seemed to come up as “F” drive. Using file explorer I tried to open the folder and the lappie would not recognise the GHO file extension. Also the phone tells me that the photos are jpeg format so should be no problem there but I could not open the folder to even see them on the lappie.
Spent about an hour on the web with Microsoft help to be offered all sort of registry products as it was suggesting it could be a registry fault.
Are these photos lost forever or should I give it to a 4 year old to fix?
Kind regards

Do you have email on the phone? if so try emailing them to your normal email and try saving them that way?

G'day Troll,
Tried that also and it seems I don't have an email account on the phone. Weird I though as I can get bigpond, use the phone as a modem, etc - everything but email.
If I had a dog I would have kikked it about then last night!
Kind regards

Did you get a CD with the phone? I remember on another phone I used to have I had to install the phone software to get the photos and videos off?

Yes it did come with a CD. I have two lappies so tried both. The one with the CD info dowloaded and installed provided some software for such things as contacts but realy had no way of interogating the rest of the stored material. Bit weird I thought it has an SD card like my camera and I was thinking that that it would work the same. I haven't tried reading the card seperately. Thanks for your suggestions.

You sure about that file format? I did some reading and the the GHO extention is used by Norton's Ghost program? Can you right click the file and do open with and select something else?

I do have Norton and when installed (recently) I left it cranked up to the maximum. Not suprised to hear it is a ghost! I can't recollect if I did that last night but will give that a go. I just found it strange that it had a file format at the folder level - not sure what file format I would need to select though, given that it is a folder.

Norton Ghost is used to make a exact copy of something like a hard drive image or something similar. If the phone tells you it's a jpeg then I would stick with that...try the open with or go into windows explorer, tools, folder options, file types...look for your jpeg and jpg extensions and see what it's opening with in there

LG550 with telstra? You should definitely be able to setup a telstra/bigpond email account and access that through the phone. Probably sounds simpler than it is though.

Does your phone and laptop come with "Bluetooth" fitted?
If so, activate it on both units and after "Pairing" the units together (your documentation will tell you how) you just need to go to each pic on the phone, click 'options' - 'send' - 'bluetooth' and select the lappy to send to.
Easy Peasy lol.
Email me if you need more help.
Regards
Neil.

Hi Neil,
Pretty sure that the phone does but not so sure about either lappie! I'll check that when I get home tonight. This is technology and nothing is that easy hahahaha. I am keen to see this work though.
Kind regards

MY 15 year old did ours last night ( same phone ) but we used a card that was removed from the phone.
By the time he gets home someone else will have told you what to do.

Thankyou Mrs S - I take it the handle refers to the other half? I now have a couple of things to try this evening, hopefully one of them will deliver the goods (photos)

Beatit, I use "Adobe Photoshop Album Starter" to upload photo's from my digital camera & also mobile phone.
This program is a free download from the below website...
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2977
Once setup the program starts as soon as you plug your phone/camera into the pc, you then have the choice of what folder you want to upload photo's to & when the photo's are uploaded you have the choice of whether you want to delete the photo's from the original source (camera/phone) or not.
I have found this program very useful if you don't have a card reader.
Hope this helps...
Cheers, John

Thanks John, That sounds interesting but I'm wondering if this is like Picassa? I have picassa loaded so I might try that as
well and failing that will give the adobe a go.
Kind regards

Forgot to mention that I also have the LG 550 mobile phone, assuming you already have your own email address, you need to open up the address book on your mobile & enter your own details, eg. name, phone number, address etc. and your own email address.
when you want to send photos via email using your mobile, open "My Media", select "Images", choose photo & select "Options", select "Send Via" then select "Email", then select the "Contacts" button, then find & select your Name, then select "Send".
Regards, John

Hi John,
I have my phone with me so doing this (at work) is not a problem. Part one was easy and I just had to add my email address. Part two I did try last night but gave it another wirl (seeing as I now have an email in the list to choose from) but it said I am not email enabled. In fact it was also trying to tell me that my phone is not capable of sending emails - we can see that is not true from your experience. Thanks
Kind regards

Theo, Look up your TU 550 user guide (page 53 - 54) for instructions on how to configure settings for receiving & transmitting emails.
Most of the answers to the questions on page 54 can be taken from the email account settings in "Outlook Express", "Incredimail" etc or the email program that you use to receive emails, go to "Tools" then "Accounts".
Cheers, John

just scanned all he replies but i don t think anyone got it right. you need to buy a micro sd card that comes wih a normal sd converter (I think some dont) you then export the images to the card and then to the computer via card reader
you cant get the images directly off the phone

Gday beatit
gotta agree with neil & lynne. if your lappy has got blue tooth it will be the quickest and easiest way to go.
Cheers

Hi Guys,
An update. Thanks for the help and I tried a few things last night. Got the the two devices talking bluetooth but still couldn't see the files. It looked very promising, paired them off and the lappy scanned the phone for files and nothing appeared. Then looked at the SD card option and realised I needed a full size adaptor - this I found this morning.
It was late when I started and I ran out of steam so will have another look this evening. I feel that I'm almost there.
Thanks again.

Don't use the lappy to scan the phone.
The easiest way is when the units are paired, go to the photo folder on the phone then choose the pics to transfer. Select pics one at a time, click on "options - send - via bluetooth - then choose your lappy 'name'.
The pic will be sent to the lappy. Take note of the folder that it is being sent to.
Do the same for all pics you want to transfer.
Regards
Neil.

Thanks for that Neil. I tried to send it via Bluetooth in the way you suggested and it all looked OK but I did not see the results on the lappy. I guess I needed to pay a little closer attention to the destination. When I opened the picture and selected options, send then Bluetooth it identified my lappy and away it went at the lappy end I was waiting with the Bluetooth screen open no entries. Maybe I should have checked the temp files but it was getting late and the lounge was calling – will try again this evening.
Thanks for your patience.
Kind regards
