To each his own I guess....cannot see the point of this sort of thing when we are supposed to be responsible when it comes to protecting the environment and also wish to retain the right to go 4WD'ing...this is the thing that gets the authorities upset.

G'day Pete, got over Kev yet????

The video I saw they were travelling along a creek bed with water in it???

Can it be there is more than one video on that link???

The old Patrol was well set up and his technique was good, but it remains fuel for the unbelivers in the city.

Cheers, Colin.

LMGO,
We had a great time, even if the only time he offered me a drive was going down a rough cliff lol.
My puter is so slow at the monent, I only watched the first few mins, but yes it is silly to hand them ammo on a plate, and being a madfisher I am conscience of water quality.
Still waiting to see the beast. How did Stefans Paj perform on your day out, and was the river you are crossing the Capetee or Wolgan, very pretty.
Cheers Pete

Yeah Pete, TONI went really well thanks.

If you know Col's property at Mt Airly, you will surely know "the hill" near the Grotto, its a bit chopped up right now due to some rain they had, some of the rocks have lost the loose fill around them making the holes a bit deeper and therefore the climb a bit steeper and rougher. TONI was the ONLY one to make it up on it's first attempt and to prove it was no fluke I went down, picked up a couple of passengers and went back up just as easily.

Stefan's Paj performed really well, hed did take a couple of lines that he would have got away with in the Patrol but the Paj needed a different approach, it's still a learning curve that he will master soon.

The group consisted of Boldjack in "the Jack", Stefan in the "Pampas Cat", Rob in his nicely setup 80sr (even the 80 had to back down and take another charge it it) & Pete in his Navara.

The 5spd auto, linked to the Nissan final, drive produces what is in effect a crawler gear in 1st low, combine this with an engine that boosts at very low rpm's and you have a great rock climber. I love it.

Thr river you see is the Turon on the Sunny Corner drive from Capertee to Sunny corner through the Turon Nat. Pk. near River Ron's hut.

Er indoors & I are going to the Oxley Wild Rivers NP next week for a little R & R and that will give it a workout with the trailer in tow over longer distances.
Cheers Colin.

G'day fellas,

Don't know the area or anything about this spot, but the text mentions this area as a privately owned 4x4 and motorcycle park.

I would have thought this is a much better place to use our vehicles than just bashing up a creek in a National Park?

Cheers,

Ross.

It all comes down to perceptions and what the public will use as a weapon in their cause to cleanse the land of "us"...the 4WDrivers !

Dont give them the excuse to come against us in the first place.

Hiya Rossco

The idea about the thread was to highlight the camera work and the driving skills as to leave the enviroment as it was,no chainsaws, spinning of wheels etc etc.,Whether it was private or not.

You will always get doo-gooders until it suits themselves,Quick little bush bash from A to B to get us there no-one's looking,Speeding Fines etc etc the list goes on...

I entirely believe you should stick to the roads that are made and make no more...Sometimes the circumstances do not permit it...

Cheers

Oh dear
QLD has many great privately owned 4x4 parks. They are governed by the authorities. A few of them opened up due to the drought and couldnt run cattle. The drought did more to the country than a 4by driving around. Come on Andrew being a Banana Bender haven't you been to one. Its a great place to safely camp and learn proper 4x4ing. Excellent family fun. The fella only posted a video incase someone else was interested.
That is what the Forum is about.

I don't think we are singing from the same sheet here.... :-)

Warfer was mentioning about highlighting the camera work, and i stated that the one i saw had crap camerawork....maybe we are looking at different videos by the sounds of some comments above.

I'm not knocking the location, their 4wding etc as i realise that those places are set up for exactly this.

BTW no, i havent been to any of these in Qld, landcruiser park etc etc, as it is not my cup of tea. Just because i'm a Qlder doesnt mean that i need to have been to one of these private parks. Each to their own....i'd rather get out there to travel and see locations than the arrangements provided by these businesses. I understand that there are many who enjoy these locations and i respect their decision.

Yep, Emu Creek is a privately owned property in Northern NSW. Like many other parks in NSW & SE Qld, people go there to "play". I've been to a few, but these days only go to one or two a year, just to keep the off road skills alive for when we tour. It's also good practice for touring tracks. And lets face it, (correct me if I'm wrong) but a trip to the Cape will have many creek crossings, yes?? So........ it's ok to drive the creek crossings on the Cape, but not in a private 4X4 park?

Or is it OK just so long as you don't post video on the net?

The guy in that video, IMO, is driving rather sensibly, he isn't carving up the environment and the track he's on doesn't appear to me to be suffering for it's use.

It may not be your "thing" to go to a park and drive tracks, and if that's your opinion, that's fine, but stating it's not your cup of tea should be the extent of the criticism. IMO, negative comments about this sort of thing are probably just as 'potentially' damaging as the video itself as it brings that point home to roost.

Cheers

Brian
