I know lpg is not good for you if it leeks in the van but can some tell me apart from it being explosive what level of poison is it? also has something been added to it like natural gas so you can smell it more?

LPG is heaver than air so all need is a 50mm hole to the atmosphere in the bottom of the storage compartment.

LPG (and NG) is not poisonous per sa. The danger is in displacement of oxygen - AKA, suffocation.
A smell is already added for detection (same with NG). 12v detectors are available that will sniff LPG
well before our noses detect it.
