hey all, i have a 1993 landcruiser petrol / now have finished putting a 1hz safari turbo in, all goes well but any one else attempting this do your home work as there is not really a need to fit a complete wiring loom front to back the petrol wiring will work!!!!! as i found out after the event. General question about what exhaust should i run as i put the standard 1hdt exhaust on and lacks power to running it with no exhaust? so any helpful input would be good
cheers

My '93 80 series had a turbo fitted soon after delivery to it's original owner. Now has almost 300,000 and is strong as an Ox.
After I bought her about a year ago I replaced the still original exhaust with a 2.5 inch system, and also had the diesel pump tuned. That delivered 25% more power and - if I take it easy on the GO pedal - a decent increase in economy. Mandrel bent 3 inch would obviously give better clearance, but I don't think the extra expense would have improved performance much more.
I now fly up hills in 3rd and 4th that I used to labour up between 2nd & third. And she doesn't even notice the load when she's towing.
There's not need to be left behind at the lights anymore, but it costs. So I try to save the extra power for work, and not showing off.

Hi
Sounds good can we have some info on what it has cost you so far.And for the sub fuel tank what did you do? leave the transfer pump or use a switch over from a diesel.
Try these guys i here their exhaust systems are good.http://www.beauexhausts.com.au/

hey so far i picked the motor up for $3000 already had the turbo on it then i stripped it and did a ful rebuild just for peice of mind. then spoke direct to exceedy do get a clutch kit made for it that would handle it, the rebuild kit cost me $2700 with a NEW GENUINE crank all bearings, gaskets, seals etc.
the clutch kit cost $700 (brass button 3 puk) very very heavy but feels solid.
I droped the 2 tanks and pulled the pump out of the front tank and extended the pick up hose then fitted the diesel change over valves ,- not needed if using the petrol wiring.
the valves cost $90 new.
then got a turbo diesel dash depending on where it comes from or how many k's , depends on the price i found 1 with 66,745klms and paid $450.
then stripped the whole interia every wire out and got a new diesel loom front half of the loom cost $350 the rear half $250 then the hard part FIND A GOOD GOOD GOOD AUTO ELEC to teediously pick the dash wires out and trace the printed circuit and put them right then put the hand in the pocket again for another $2500 then its basically done just all the little things.
i also fitted 3 inch suspention lift and a 2 inch body lift front and rear air lockers, 35 inch muddies
now i got the g/box checked and a couple of new bearings. you will also need a 1hdt bell housing. So some may say that i should have sold it and got a diesel but its all about the experience and now i know the whole car is great. so if any one wants any parts just let me know. all going cheap.

Thanks for that i have thought about an engine transplant but the petrol is going ok. i have done a few over the years , my s3 landrover, an international scout and fj45 landcruiser fitted a 327 chev that went good.
At least you will know what to do if you do another.

Have 3 inch exhaust on our 92 T/D for a couple of years. Had the fuel pump and injectors played with yesterday and put her on the Dyno. Then it came up the Toowoomba Range in 5th. Only did 5th cause we know shes sick for sure if we have to put it back a gear. Or of course if there is a big mobile speed bump in the way we cant. Its hard to get fuel consumption with our different driving conditions but are currently watching the ks in the sub see if we get more. Before we played with the pump and injectors she had a hard time with the van on. Apparently it can be twigged more but will lose power in the top end. Its great around town sofar.
